SmartRPA Authentication Manager

The SmartRPA Authentication Manager (AM) ensure that Kofax Kapow robots can easily and securely obtain authenticated sessions or VDI’s for applications needed by a robot and at the same time create logs for a complete audit trail between multiple deployment environments; development, test and production.

It works by having the robot lease users and then request that the user be signed in to an application or VDI. One benefit from AM is that the robot does not do the actual signing-in itself, and therefore does not have to deal with keeping passwords secure, etc.

AM supports three kinds of applications

  • Generic: Return free user credentials so the robot can log into the application itself.
  • Web-based: Sign in to a web application using a custom login robot and return a live web browser session.
  • VDI-based: By signing in to a Windows VDI and return a Windows user session for use with Device Automation. Any application on the VDI which support existing single sign-on solution can now be accessed by the robot.

AM is currently proving its value at 100+ current customers of Kofax Kapow and is a must for anyone who want easy and compliant security as part of their Kofax Kapow installation.

This is an example of a robot that uses SmartRPA Authentication Manager custom steps to securely lease, login and release a VDI or Web app without any credentials ever being exposed to the developer.

SmartRPA Authentication Manager highlights compared to standard Kofax Kapow

  • Secure credentials management for applications and VDI’s
  • Enables a full audit trail across multiple environments
    • Development, test, production
    • Multiple entities in a multitenant setup
  • Only lock VDI’s when they are in use
    • Minimize the time a VDI is in use by a robot
  • Support for multiple login profiles in same VDI pool
    • Set resolution and other appearance parameters for each VDI/login for high robustness
    • Minimize the need for VDI’s with apps that have high license cost
  • Always reset VDI’s to known state
    • Makes it a lot faster to develop robust DA robots

SmartRPA File Manager

Standard Kofax Kapow cannot securely sandbox file operation between project. The SmartRPA File Manager enable 100% secure work with files and filesystems within sandboxed projects and thus enable the use of Kofax Kapow in large organization with strict file access right between different entities. It will also allow Kofax Kapow to be used as a multitenant solution serving multiple separate organizations in one installation.

  • Access files using Windows authentication
  • Allow robots in separate projects to access files securely and sandboxed
  • Uses Windows ASP Impersonation in IIS for secure access

SmartRPA SQL Manager

The most popular database setup with Kofax Kapow is Microsoft SQL Server using Windows integrated security authentication. Unfortunately, this mean that all robots always can work with database tables across project boundaries. This is a no-go for large enterprises and for multitenant use.

SmartRPA SQL Manager solves this problem to deliver secure SQL database access in a 100% sandboxed environment. This enable Kofax Kapow to be used for multitenant use or to support large enterprises with strict database access limitations between departments.
